We are home from the hospital!

WHEW! I am sort of snickering as I see what my last post read and now this one. Oh how things can change with kids so fast. We were on vacation last week, had Gabrielle in the ER one day because of a fever following a bad chest cold.....after many tests and LOTS of poking and screaming, we learned it was a virus!! We got home Thursday night and I said to Pete that I we should take her to the Dr. since the fever just wasn't staying away without Motrin. She seemed great Friday morning and I was so happy I had not given her any Motrin.......well when I went to get her from her nap my knees went weak. She was pretty out of it and was BURNING up like I have never felt in a child. I took her temp the "back-end" way to get the most accurate reading......good thing I was on the floor with her because it was 105! Her Dr. said to take her straight to the Pediatric ER we have here. OH MY not again I thought, but I knew something had to be going on. Well, as it turns out she has Pnemonia (I have no idea how to spell that, all I know is it can be nasty). So, the blessing is that after a really long and scary night Friday night, we had a great night Saturday night and now we are home Sunday night. Gabrielle is quite the fighter and is so strong and we are so happy to be home. My sister-in-law, Alease came and hung with me last night which was exactly what I needed. She is such a blessing in my life and I cherished the time we spent and her staying with me and bringing me all those magazines and sweets.

GiGi got so much attention at the hospital, it was really cute. I think any person who was working who was from Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia, and so on, had to stop by and see her. It was wonderful how supportive and amazing they all were.

I had a strange experience as we were getting ready to leave. That morning a Tech had come in and woke me up.....I hadn't gotten much sleep so I was REALLY out of it. The first thing I thought was, wow, my stomach feels really good, but I shouldn't be laying on it. I then rolled over carefully realizing that I didn't just have a baby.....well I did, but not out of my stomach like the last 2. The last time I was in a hospital to stay over was for my c-sections. Anyway, I thought the similarities were wild and it was like I had just had a baby- I did! So, when the nurse came in later and took out GiGi's IV's and such and said, congratulations you may get her dressed and go home, I was so excited. I couldn't wait to get that little gown off of her and get her in her clothes and do her hair. As I was picking out her outfit and getting her ready I started crying as, once again, the feelings were so familiar to the 2 times before as I had gotten my new babies ready to leave the hospital. It was a gift from God to have this experience, the one on one time, the SERIOUS bonding through some rough moments, and the joy of getting her dressed and ready to leave the hospital with me as a total and complete part of me, just as I had with my 2 older children.

So glad to hear that baby Gigi is doing better! There is not much else that is so scary than when our babies are so sick!
What a sweet blessing to have the experience with Gigi as you did with your other children too! God is so good! I was tearing up reading that! So very sweet!
We just celebrated Myli's first birthday and we are rejoicing that we were able to be with her on this precious day!

We had a crazy weekend (baby shower and such) but I happen to see Kari's post and so each time you guys came to mind I prayed a lot for you! We are so thankful she is home again and getting better! What a neat experience you had when you got to take her home from the hospital! God is so good...adopts us and makes us just like one of his other children...oh! the sweet similarities of biological birth, adoption and salvation...AMAZING!
So happy for you guys,
Amy (& Dietrich)

I'm so thankful you're home safely. I'm so sorry for your ordeal, but what a beautiful realization in the hospital. It sure reminds me of the promise in Romans 8:28! I'd love to talk again one of these days...I THINK we're number 2 for an infant girl now!!! I can't believe it!!!

Love,
Danielle

My goodness, Girl!!! What an experience! I had no idea and I'm so thankful that all is well, now. And your experience about getting to bring her home from the hospital was like a sweet song straight from heaven.

Take care,
